1936; the Popular Front in photographs

On the occasion of the 80th anniversary of the Popular Front, the City of Paris has organised an exhibition in honour of this pivotal French left-wing movement.

This moment poised on the brink of revolution can be seen via images captured by such notable photographers as Robert Capa, Henri Cartier-Bresson, Robert Doisneau and Willy Ronis, alongside posters, film clips, and more.

The working people of France seized the opportunity to improve their lot, and thousands of records still exist bearing witness to the historic moment.

This chronological exhibition at the City Hall will help you to discover the political and social issues addressed by the Popular Front between 1934 and 1939.

Unmissable.
