Her name is always written in capital letters. Why? Because ORLAN defies convention, thinks outside the box and always surprises. The performance and body artist is a continual source of fascination, so it is no surprise that ORLAN is now the subject of an extraordinary exhibition at the Maison de la Photographie during Photo Month.
ORLAN offers a provocative, enigmatic, sensual, funny body of work that always fights against racism, masculine supremacy and forms of domination and questions religion and genres. Parodic or even grotesque, her works, whether plastic or performative, lead us to think in different ways about the status of the body in society.
Don’t miss it.
