The Catacombs of Paris

The Catacombs of Paris

Without a doubt it’s the best … and scariest … way to stay cool this summer!

Former underground quarries converted into a municipal ossuary at the end of the 18th century, the Paris Catacombs house the mortal remains of about 6 million individuals. You can visit nearly 2km of this eerie place and explore tunnels lined with neatly stacked bones. Some prominent names from French history are interred here, including Robespierre and the playwright, Racine.
